Welcome to The Mount Vernon Project: School of Public Service, an online training program designed to equip newly elected public officials with key knowledge to be effective public servants. Those contemplating running for local elected office are also welcome to participate.
Registered users in this training series will learn from current and former elected officials, representatives of state agencies, and partners from higher education. Users who finish all sections of the six core topic areas will earn a certificate of completion showing their commitment to equipping themselves with the tools to better serve their community.
Local elected officials are the most accessible, and therefore often are the most important government officials the public will interact with daily. Informed and active public officials maximize the effectiveness of local government.
